2024 Summer Tour to the Cornish Riviera

On Friday 13th September 36 tourists (+ Brenda ) set off from Shrivenham to play 4 games of bowls over the weekend. On Friday our hosts were Adbrook Park from Newton Abbott, on Saturday we played at Babbacombe, on Sunday we visited Totnes, and before returning home on Monday we played a game against Portishead.

Yet again , we were very lucky with the weather, which was a blessing for the 12 tourists who did not play each day. Again this year we supported the Pancreatic Cancer charity through a fines system, and I am pleased to say we raised £140.

As an additional incentive to NOT be the worst rink , the club mascot ( Brenda ) was used , and together with a badge which was given out,

For the first time we had an award for the Best Bowler on Tour, which was won by Chris Hockley, as he played in all four games, and won all of his rinks.

I think we all had a good break, and a lot of this year’s tourists together with some additional members are now looking forward to next year’s visit to Llandrindod Wells.

Finally, a big thank you to all of the tourists for supporting me throughout the weekend
